How to Donate School Supplies and Uniforms to Children in Need
Help Arizona kids have the clothes and supplies they need for school
“Now my grandma doesn’t have to wash my pants every night,” said a little boy tearfully, as he clutched his two new pairs of school uniform pants. He got even more choked up once he saw that he was also receiving new shoes that actually fit, new shirts that weren’t faded, and new socks that didn’t have holes.
Thousands of Arizona children go to school every day wearing clothes that don’t make them feel confident and proud. The Assistance League of Phoenix has been helping to outfit kids from Title 1 schools for 25 years. Last year, their Operation School Bell program provided more than 7,000 students from low-income families with uniform clothes, shoes, socks, underwear, and toiletry items.
Desert Financial has been providing grants to this agency for several years, and our community selected the Assistance League of Phoenix as the grand prize recipient of our 75th Anniversary Shine On grant program. Donate School Supplies
Desert Financial also helps to provide children with school supplies by coordinating a large employee donation drive. Every year, our generous staff buys backpacks and more than 1,000 items to help children in the Balsz School District.
You can give back to your own neighborhood school (or any school), by buying and donating school supplies. The next time you go shopping, purchase some extra school supplies and drop them off at the front desk of the school.
A recent study found that most teachers spend nearly $500 of their own money to purchase supplies for their classroom and students. That means your donations will be appreciated by any Arizona teacher or school.
Thank you for supporting our community and helping kids succeed.
