YOG Opening Breakfast
December 13th, 2017 — At a press conference held at Desert Financial corporate headquarters, we:
- Announced our new name
- Introduced the Desert Financial Foundation
- Kicked off Desert Financial’s Year of Giving
The highlight of the event was presenting 10 Valley nonprofits with grants ranging from $5,000 to $15,000. These nonprofits included Free Arts of Arizona, the Local First Arizona Foundation, A New Leaf and many more. You can view the entire list below.
In addition to presenting $107,500 in community grants, we officially announced the formation of the Desert Financial Foundation, which will allow us to increase our giving efforts and expand our education and financial wellness programs.
Our CEO, Jeff Meshey, also announced a new initiative that we’re calling Random Acts of Kindness. Through this program, we are making funds available to our team that they can use to make a difference in our community. All employees need to do is submit their idea and outline the positive impact they hope to make. To exemplify this, each person in attendance at the press conference was given $1,000 to donate to the charity of their choice. Desert Financial awarded a total of $53,000 to a variety of charities, such as animal shelters and free arts programs.
There are many more exciting initiatives coming in 2018, and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for us as Desert Financial!
