Desert Financial Sponsorship Helps Grant Wishes to Teachers
- Desert Financial is the title sponsor of this year’s Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers Program.
- 200 Arizona educators will each receive a $2,500 grant to help their students.
- Eligible K-12 teachers can apply now through October 16th.
Over the past three years, Desert Financial has supported the Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers Program, which awards grants to deserving K-12 educators throughout Arizona. As a credit union founded by local teachers more than 80 years ago, we have a longstanding relationship with Arizona’s educational community. To further our commitment to education and to our Fiesta Bowl partnership, Desert Financial has stepped up to become a title sponsor of this year’s Wishes for Teachers Program!
In the four years since the program originated, Wishes for Teachers has awarded a total of $3.2 million to nearly 650 Arizona K-12 teachers. This year is exceptional — not only because we are a first-time title sponsor of the program, but also because of the new challenges presented to educators during the pandemic. “Wishes for Teachers is even more meaningful this year as teachers have adapted to extraordinary circumstances,” says Desert Financial President & CEO Jeff Meshey. “Desert Financial has had a long history of supporting education to honor the legacy of our 15 founders, all teachers.”
All K-12 instructors at public and charter schools in Arizona are invited to apply for the Desert Financial Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers Program now through October 16, 2020. Eligible educators must submit an online application explaining how they would use the funds to help their students. Once the submission period ends, 200 teachers will be randomly chosen to receive a $2,500 grant. Recipients will be announced in November.
This program is a game-changer for grant recipients, many of whom pay for classroom supplies out of their own pockets. “It’s our pleasure to serve as the title partner for this year’s Wishes for Teachers and collaborate with Fiesta Bowl Charities to make those exciting calls to deserving teachers,” says Meshey. With the support provided by this program, 200 educators across the state will have their wishes for an exceptional student experience granted.
