Giving back has been a part of Desert Financial’s culture since we were founded in 1939. We’re committed to helping our local community through volunteering, donations to nonprofit organizations, grants, scholarships and educational programs.

We’re starting a #KindnessRevolution by surprising members of our community with Random Acts of Kindness! From helping a member pay for a much-needed car repair and giving out gift cards at the Fiesta Bowl Parade to donating $15,000 to a child’s heart surgery fund, we’ve put smiles on countless faces.

FROM FLOODED TO FABULOUS

After an unfortunate accident occurred with the fire sprinkler system, four classrooms were flooded at a local elementary school. Thankfully no one was injured, but many books and supplies were destroyed. The funds intended for a teachers’ lounge refresh had to be used to replace the damaged items. However, thanks to a Random Act of Kindness, the educators still got their newly renovated lounge!

In 1939, fifteen courageous educators pooled their money to start a credit union for teachers. They didn’t have millions of dollars. Or even thousands. They had just $78.75. While our credit union is now open to all Valley residents, we remain dedicated to helping local educators by surprising them at monthly Teacher Appreciation events.

BUILDING A PATH TO SUCCESS

The Desert Financial San Tan Village branch held an exciting Teacher Appreciation event for the educators at Gateway Pointe! The staff was treated to a delicious Café Rio taco bar for lunch and surprised with items that will benefit the students at this school. Gateway Pointe will now be able to install sensory paths in several of the school hallways. These paths contain activities that invite students to walk, jump and leapfrog through them, allowing children to release their physical energy so that they can focus on their studies.

Desert Financial is passionate about helping others, and our team members are, too! We offer hundreds of ways for our employees to give back throughout the year, from hosting blood drives and collecting school supply donations to stocking food banks and building care packages for our troops overseas.

Community Spotlight:

BRINGING WORDS TO LIFE

Some of our team members volunteered at the Children’s Museum of Phoenix to share the joy of reading with young children. At this Reading Adventures Day, the volunteers and participants created arts and crafts projects – all with a literary twist! The best part is that these kids from local Title 1 schools were able to discover the excitement and fun that reading can bring.
