Giving back has been a part of Desert Financial’s culture since we were founded in 1939. We’re committed to helping our local community through volunteering, donations to nonprofit organizations, grants, scholarships and educational programs.
We’re starting a #KindnessRevolution by surprising members of our community with Random Acts of Kindness! From helping a member pay for a much-needed car repair and giving out gift cards at the Fiesta Bowl Parade to donating $15,000 to a child’s heart surgery fund, we’ve put smiles on countless faces.

Big Gifts for Little Libraries
Our social media followers were able to get involved in this Random Act of Kindness! We asked them on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook which genre of books we should buy to stock up local Little Free Libraries — a nonprofit whose mission is to inspire children through reading and community book exchanges. Our followers voted for fiction reads so we headed to Changing Hands Bookstore, where we purchased $500 worth of books, and hit up three Little Free Libraries nearby to fill them up. We are excited for little readers to enjoy these books that our followers were able to choose!

In 1939, fifteen courageous educators pooled their money to start a credit union for teachers. They didn’t have millions of dollars. Or even thousands. They had just $78.75. While our credit union is now open to all Valley residents, we remain dedicated to helping local educators by surprising them at monthly Teacher Appreciation events.
Teacher Appreciation Event Spotlight:
Rewarding Stellar Students
The educators at Mountain View Elementary School have created a great reward system for their students. When students model good behavior, they are given “money” to spend on anything they want at the school store. This reward system has encouraged students to show up each day with a good attitude. As part of a recent Teacher Appreciation Event, our team members used their funds to stock the school store with fun items for the students such as snacks, drinks, and even headphones so they can listen to their favorite tunes.

Desert Financial is passionate about helping others, and our team members are, too! We offer hundreds of ways for our employees to give back throughout the year, from hosting blood drives and collecting school supply donations to stocking food banks and building care packages for our troops overseas.
Supporting Local Charities
The Suns and Desert Financial teamed up to help local charities through The Ultimate Knockout contest. Several Suns players, a few Suns dancers, the Suns’ mascot, and one Suns alumni each selected a charity that they wanted to represent. In a tournament-style competition bracket, the charities were lined up, and people were able to vote for their favorite one. Each round, the charity with the most votes moved forward until a final winner was selected. Packages From Home, a nonprofit dedicated to providing support to military personnel overseas, was the ultimate winner, and they received $10,000! The other charities in the competition are still helping build a better community, so they each received a donation as well.
