We’re starting a #KindnessRevolution by surprising members of our community with Random Acts of Kindness! From helping a member pay for a much-needed car repair and giving out gift cards at the Fiesta Bowl Parade to donating $15,000 to a child’s heart surgery fund, we’ve put smiles on countless faces.

HERE’S TO FRESHMAN YEAR

We tasked our interns to perform a Random Act of Kindness of their choice so they could learn about Desert Financial Credit Union’s mission to share success. They chose to put together a College Survival Kit for Blanca, a freshman starting GCU this fall. Blanca volunteers throughout the Valley and we admire her commitment to her community. Understanding that college supplies can be expensive, our interns knew the essentials that Blanca would need! She received over $2,000 worth of supplies, including a MacBook Pro, Air Pods, a gift card to purchase books, a backpack, and of course ramen noodles!

In 1939, fifteen courageous educators pooled their money to start a credit union for teachers. They didn’t have millions of dollars. Or even thousands. They had just $78.75. While our credit union is now open to all Valley residents, we remain dedicated to helping local educators by surprising them at monthly Teacher Appreciation events.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL SURPRISES

Our team members headed to Melvin E. Sine School to surprise some educators with a thank-you breakfast before the fall semester begins! These teachers were scheduled for an in-service day to prepare their classrooms and get ready for the new school year, so we thought this was the perfect opportunity to brighten their day. Not wanting to take away from their preparation time, the principal requested a catered breakfast from Kneader’s so educators could mingle and be celebrated! Following breakfast, these teachers were surprised with a check for $1,000 to help them start the school year with all the supplies they needed!

Community Spotlight:

SOME HEROES DO WEAR CAPES

Forty Desert Financial team members gathered at our headquarters and volunteered to help make superhero capes for children in need with Hands On Phoenix! The activity consisted of cutting out shapes and attaching them to the capes, as well as spending the time to make each one unique for these awesome kids. With over 50 capes made, we hope that they will help these children feel like the superheroes they are!
