Desert Financial Credit Union Donates $5,000 to ‘Packages from Home’ Nonprofit to Help Replace Stolen Truck
GLENDALE, AZ (February 14, 2019) — As a nonprofit that sends donated goods overseas to deployed military personnel, Packages From Home operates by doing good for others. So when the organization’s administrators returned home from an out-of-state event to find that their transport truck had been stolen, they were devastated.
“We were shocked that someone would take something from a nonprofit, and even more shocked when we realized insurance wouldn’t cover the amount needed to replace it,” said Aaron Morrison, Packages From Home’s Operations Manager. “Without a truck, we aren’t able to pick up large donations from the community or bring supplies to events. These are critical activities to our mission of getting packages to our military overseas.”
Upon learning that the organization would struggle to continue with their mission without a truck, Desert Financial Credit Union decided to step in. The not-for-profit credit union made a ‘Random Act of Kindness’ donation of $5,000 toward the purchase of a new vehicle.
“We feel very happy, very relieved, and very humbled to receive this donation,” said Sarah Morrison, Director of Fundraising & Communications for Packages From Home. “This is something for which we are eternally grateful. When we purchase our new Packages From Home vehicle, we hope to decorate it with a Desert Financial logo for everyone to see!”
