Instant Payments FAQ
What is an Instant Payment?
Instant Payments make it easy to send and receive funds quickly — any time of day, any day of the year. Instant Payments are sent through a third‑party real‑time payment network, which allows participating financial institutions to transfer funds between accounts in real time.
Do I have to opt in to Instant Payments?
No. Instant Payments are automatically available to eligible members as an added benefit through Online Banking and our mobile app.
Do I need to verify that another financial institution can receive Instant Payments?
Yes. You should confirm with the receiving financial institution that they can receive Instant Payments.
Is there a fee to send or receive an Instant Payment?
There is no fee for receiving Instant Payment. To send an Instant Payment, a fee applies. The fee is 1.75% of the transaction amount, with a minimum fee of $0.25 and a maximum fee of $25.00.
The fee will automatically populate during processing in Online Banking. The system will ensure that sufficient funds are available to cover both the payment amount and the fee. The fee appears as a separate transaction.
What are the sending limits for Instant Payments?
Instant Payments are subject to the following limits:
- Daily: $5,000
- Weekly: $10,000
- Monthly: $10,000
What account types are eligible for Instant Payments?
Instant Payments can be sent to and received from:
- Checking accounts
- Savings accounts
- Money Market accounts
Instant Payments cannot be sent to or received by Desert Financial loan accounts at this time.
How long does it take to receive an Instant Payment?
Instant Payments typically post to the receiving account within seconds.
Who can send an Instant Payment?
To send an Instant Payment, you must:
- Have an account in good standing.
- Have an account that has been open for at least 30 days.
Do I have to own the receiving account to get an Instant Payment?
Yes. At this time, Instant Payments can only be sent to accounts owned by the member.
What if I have questions about an unauthorized Instant Payment?
If you suspect an unauthorized Instant Payment, please contact us at (602) 433-7000.
Can Instant Payments be canceled or amended?
No. Instant Payments are final and cannot be canceled or modified once sent.
Why hasn’t an Instant Payment posted to my account?
Instant Payments are not available for all account scenarios. Certain conditions may delay or prevent posting. Please call (602) 433-7000 for assistance.
