Disneyland: What’s New for the Holidays?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year at the Happiest Place on Earth! When you visit the parks between November 8, 2019 and January 6, 2020, you’ll experience the holiday magic at Disneyland Resort.

With theme park admission, you can enjoy all of the rides and adventures that Disneyland and California Adventure have to offer — plus festive decor, seasonal music, limited-time treats and holiday-themed events. Here’s a peek at what to expect at each park for the 2019 holiday season:

Disney California Adventure Park

The first thing you’ll notice in Disney California Adventure is the Buena Vista Street Holiday Tree. Standing at 50-feet tall, it will be lit each evening in celebration of the season.

You’ll also find the Festival of Holidays, a Latin-inspired experience with piñatas, banners, Latin music and regional food. Look for celebrations and events including:

  • Disney ¡Viva Navidad!: A seasonal soiree hosted by the Three Caballeros
  • Festive Foods Marketplace: 12 marketplaces offering unique, seasonal dishes and drinks
  • Three Kings’ Day: (January 3 - 6, 2020) Latin American traditions, tastings and more
  • Santa’s Holiday Visit: Find the jolliest elf of them all at Redwood Creek Challenge Trail

Radiator Springs in Disney California Adventure Park wishes you a Merry Cars-mas with temporary holiday-themed ride overlays to two family favorites:

  • Mater’s Jingle Jamboree
  • Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl

Disneyland Park

Magical touches are found throughout Disneyland Park, the centerpiece being Wintertime Enchantment at Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle. The castle dazzles with over 80,000 lights, icicles and evergreen garland, which will be showcased each evening.

Here are a few other seasonal additions to Disneyland:

  • “A Christmas Fantasy” Parade: Santa parades down Main Street U.S.A. accompanied by life-sized toy soldiers, reindeer and Disney characters including Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Chip, Dale and Mickey.
  • “Believe...in Holiday Magic” Fireworks: Weather permitting, this sparkling light show takes place over Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle, and is made even more magical with snowfall.
  • “It’s a Small World” Holiday Lighting and Ride Overlay: The exterior of the ride will be decked with lights, and the ride will play holiday music.
  • Haunted Mansion Holiday: Jack Skellington of The Nightmare Before Christmas almost hits the mark when he decorates the Haunted Mansion for the holidays.

Want to see all the details that go into making holiday magic at the resort? Purchase a separate ticket for the Holiday Time at Disneyland Resort Tour. This 2.5-hour walking tour offers a behind-the-scenes look at the parks during the holidays, plus reserved seating for A Christmas Fantasy Parade, delicious holiday treats, a collectible pin and more.

Other New Attractions

Holiday décor isn’t the only new addition to Disneyland! Take a spin on Jessie’s Critter Carousel or ride the Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind in Disney California Adventure Park. You can also meet Captain Marvel and other superheroes in the Hollywood Backlot.

Shop the Galaxy’s Edge outposts in Disneyland Park and climb aboard the Millennium Falcon to explore galaxies far, far away. There are also new shows such as Mickey’s PhilharMagic, and new eats in Downtown Disney, including Black Tap Craft Burgers and Shakes.
