Rewarding Adult Learners
As part of our ongoing commitment to education and continuous learning, we introduced a unique scholarship for members who are 25 and older and attending an Arizona college or university.
Most scholarships are targeted to students just out of high school, so we wanted to offer our support for students who were starting school a little later or returning back to school to pursue their dreams.
“I’m so impressed by the determination and resiliency we see in these students,” said Jeff Meshey, the President and CEO of Desert Financial. “With some life experience, many now know what they want to do and how to get there. It’s inspiring.”
To launch our third year of our Adult Learners Scholarship Program, we increased the number of recipients, awarding $2,000 each to 25 students.
Each student joined us on a Zoom call to hear about their fellow recipients and learn about a couple of surprises.
Earlier in the day, we dropped off gift bags for all the students, which also included a special wrapped gift. During the ceremony, the students unwrapped their boxes to reveal a new iPad with a protective keyboard case. In addition, we also surprised one randomly chosen student to receive a $5,000 scholarship!
Congratulations to all the remarkable students we honored this year! Learn a little bit more about the scholarship winners below.
